Geometry 1.05

This is a post for my Geometry class with FLVS. My chosen argument is Argument A, which states that hand-held tools should be used to solve geometric equations, rather than a computer. It is better to use hand-held tools, such as a compass or a straightedge, rather than a computer program when dealing with geometric figures. One of the benefits to using hand-held tools is that they require one to think about what one is doing. When using a computer program, there is no need to understand what is happening. All that is needed is the memorization of the steps to graph whatever it is that is being graphed. Another benefit is the developing appreciation for ancient tools. When using a tool, such as a straightedge, one can realize how amazing it is for an ancient tool to be so precise. Also, not using one of these items causes one to rely solely on the computer. In the words of Colleen Moore, "you don't learn it [Geometry] as well." The last affirmative factor to this argument is that using the ancient tools in a Math course allows one to receive a History lesson within a Math lesson. In conclusion, it is more beneficial to use ancient objects rather than a computer program to solve Geometry equations. My sources are Colleen Moore and library.thinkquest.org/c006354/history.html.

Update

Hello everyone,

As many of you already know, my little brother is on his way. I am so excited. Of course I won't be able to teach him ballet, but I will be able to teach him some karate. Already I am excited about what he will look like, what his first words will be, and the name of his favorite toy. Everone that I know is excited about him, and so am I. It's silly, but I am looking forward to the day when a family of three will become a family of four.

Really Excieted,
Brianna

Back to Dancing

Hey,

I am so sorry that I haven't posted anything in so long. As you probably have guessed karate is out of the picture and dance is back in. I would normally just say ballet, but I am also taking tap and jazz. Well thank you for checking on the blog.

His Dancing Daughter,
Brianna

Hey everyone, sorry I haven't been on my blog lately. I have been kinda busy with karate.
It is really fun but it takes alot off time out of my day. For Christmas I got a Wii and it is really awesome. I have such amazing friends and family I have 10,000 games for my Wii. (well maybe not that many)

Belt Test #2 - Sparring

Here is me with my friend Brittney at our recent belt test. Yes, we are still friends even though I knocked her down. Lucky her, her parents take her to Golden Corral after belt tests.

Brittney and I both started Paks this past Spring, and we get to be partners for our belt tests. I also get to see her in the teen classes sometimes on Tuesday nights. And, even though we don't look a like sometimes Master Johnson calls me Brittney...but I don't mind because Brittney is cool!

I want to say "Thank You!" to all of my instructors...especially Master Johnson, Master Leedy, Miss Kim, and Miss Katherine. Morning classes are my favorite because I get to learn new forms and kicks. I'm up to Dol phoon 3! Oops! Master Johnson didn't know I know that form because Nick taught it to me while we were walking around Costco with our moms!

Sometimes in Master Leedy's Wednesday class he turns the whole room into an agility course...that's really fun! But you better "akeei!" or else... =D

Miss Katherine is THE BEST chest-guard tie-er in the world! And Miss Kim ROCKS! (No offense Mr. Tersack!)

Until next time...

Board Break

Doesn't my back pivot look great? This is the third board that I've broken and by far the most fun. A lot of people wonder if it hurts when breaking a board. NO, if you know what you're doing and hit with the correct part of your foot.

End of Summer Festival

One of my favorite things is KARATE. I have been taking classes for almost 6 months at Pak's Karate Academy near my house in Mandarin. On September 13 I will take my second belt test. I am also on the Little Ninjas demo team as a nunchucker.

Here I am during a demo I was in with the Little Ninjas demo team last Saturday at the End of Summer Festival...one of my instructors, Master Leedy, is holding the board for me...
